Backup and Disaster Recovery
When something goes wrong – a failed server, a ransomware attack, a folder somebody deleted a fortnight ago – the question is rarely whether you have a backup. It’s how quickly you’re working again. We look after both halves.
Getting the data back is the easy half
Most businesses have a backup. Far fewer have watched somebody restore from it. The difference only shows up on the worst possible day, which is a poor time to find out.
We keep safe copies of your data and keep a tested route back to working. Which means you can stop wondering whether the green tick on the backup report actually means anything.
What we look after
Your servers and computers. Backed up on a schedule that matches how much work you could afford to redo, with copies kept away from your main systems so ransomware can’t reach them.
Your Microsoft 365 data. Mail, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams. Microsoft keeps the service running and your data replicated across its data centres – but keeping a recoverable copy of what’s in it is your responsibility, not theirs. It’s the point that surprises people most.
Your route back. An agreed target for how long recovery takes, so a failure becomes a known inconvenience rather than an open-ended one.
Tested, not assumed
A backup nobody has restored from is a promise, not a protection. We check that data comes back – not simply that the backup job finished without an error. When something needs attention, you hear about it in plain English.
Backup isn’t the same as disaster recovery
The two get used as though one were a grander word for the other. Backup answers whether you could get the data back at all. Disaster recovery answers how soon everyone is working again. You can have a confident answer to the first and none at all to the second, and most businesses do.
It matters because the two are bought differently. If a week offline would be survivable, backup alone may genuinely be enough – that’s a perfectly reasonable decision to make on purpose. If it wouldn’t be, recovery has to be planned and tested. We’ll help you work out which of those you are before anybody quotes you for anything.
