Good SEO starts with a site search engines can actually read

Very few businesses have a ranking challenge. They have a website challenge that shows up in the rankings – pages that crawl on a phone, a structure Google can’t follow, a Google Business Profile nobody has touched in three years.

We handle the technical half of search engine optimisation (SEO) and the local half, for businesses across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Southampton and the wider South Coast. No hype, no promised positions, and a straight answer about what’s actually wrong.

Start with a free audit of your current site. No obligation, and if it’s already in good shape we’ll say so.

Nothing warns you that you're invisible

When a customer searches for what you do and finds somebody else, no alert goes off. There’s no error, no ticket, no red light. The phone simply rings a little less than it should.

That’s what makes search easy to ignore for years at a time. It never becomes urgent, it just quietly costs you the enquiries you never knew were on offer.

Most of the sites we look at aren’t losing on effort. They’re losing on the basics – slow pages, headings that tell Google nothing, no page for the town the customer actually typed in. Those are fixable, and fixing them is the part we’re genuinely good at.

What we do

Technical SEO

Crawling, indexing, site structure, redirects, structured data and mobile. The plumbing that decides whether a search engine can make sense of your site at all.

On-page SEO

Page titles, headings, internal links and copy built around the words people really type – not the words we’d assume they type.

Speed optimisation

Images, code, caching and Core Web Vitals. Quicker pages keep visitors on the site, and Google takes notice of them too.

Local search

Google Business Profile, local listings, reviews and town-level pages, so you turn up when somebody nearby is searching with their wallet already out.

Local search is where a South Coast business can genuinely win

You are never going to outrank a national brand on a broad, generic search term, and you don’t need to. Somebody in Poole looking for a supplier in Poole is a far better enquiry anyway.

Local search is its own discipline. It rewards a properly filled-in Google Business Profile, a business name, address and phone number that match everywhere they appear, real reviews, and pages that are genuinely about a place rather than the same page with the town name swapped in.

We’ve done this for our own business across Dorset and Hampshire. We run local pages for the towns we actually cover, and we’ve done the work of making them rank rather than spinning up thin copies with the place name swapped in. It’s not theory here; it’s the same work we do on our own site.

What SEO can do, and what it can't

We’d rather set the expectation properly than win the work and disappoint you later.

It can make your site readable to search engines, quick on a phone, clearly structured, and far more likely to appear when someone nearby searches for what you sell. It can put you in front of people already looking, which is the cheapest attention there is.

It can’t be guaranteed. Nobody – us, an agency, or anyone charging you a fortune – controls Google’s results. Any promise of a specific position is a promise the person making it cannot keep.

It also can’t fix a weak offer. If your pricing, your reviews or your service aren’t right, more visitors just means more people finding out. We’ll tell you if we think that’s the real challenge.

How long it takes, and why

Typically 3–6 months before you see meaningful movement. That’s the honest answer and it hasn’t changed in years.

The reason is simple: search engines have to re-crawl your site, register that it has changed, and then watch how people behave on it before they’ll trust the new version of you. Technical fixes land fastest – speed improvements and crawl errors can show up within weeks. Content and local authority take longer.

Anyone offering results next month is either doing something you’ll regret or counting something that doesn’t matter.

What you actually get

The changes made, not just recommended

We’re a technical team, so we do the work rather than emailing you a list and wishing you luck. Fixes are made on your site, and we tell you what changed and why.

A report you can read

Plain English – monthly if we’re working on it monthly, once at the end if it’s a one-off. What we did, what moved, what’s still worth doing. No 120-page PDF nobody opens.

A person on the phone

Someone who knows your site, answers when you ring, and will tell you when something isn’t worth spending money on.

Two ways to buy it

Ongoing

We keep working on the site month after month – fixing what we find, improving what’s already there, and sending you a note each month saying what moved and what didn’t. Right for a business that wants search to keep getting better rather than be tidied once.

A one-off piece of work

We audit the site properly, fix everything fixable in one go, and hand you the list of what’s left with the reasoning. Right if you want to know where you stand, or you’ve just had a site built and want it set up correctly from the start.

Not sure which? Take the one-off. If it turns out there’s enough ongoing work to justify a monthly arrangement, we’ll say so – and if there isn’t, we’ll say that too.

Speed and uptime count towards your rankings

This is the one place SEO and hosting genuinely overlap. A site that takes too long to load, or that’s down when Google comes to look, will be marked down for it – so if your current host is slow or unreliable, that’s an SEO challenge as much as a hosting one. We can look at that separately: see Web Hosting →.

Working with us

We’re an IT company that builds and looks after websites. We are not a specialist SEO agency and we won’t pretend to be one – if you need a large-scale national content operation, that’s someone else’s job and we’ll happily say so.

What we do own is the technical side. A site that loads quickly, is built properly, is readable to search engines, has a clean structure and works on a phone. Plus local search, because we’re a South Coast business selling to South Coast businesses and we’ve had to get good at it.

You get the same team that hosts the site, patches it and answers the phone. Which means when a speed problem turns out to be a server problem, nobody spends a fortnight deciding whose fault it is.

Get an SEO audit

1. We look at your site

Speed, structure, indexing, mobile, local listings and the search terms you should realistically be turning up for.

2. We tell you what we find

In plain English, on the phone or in person. Including the bits that are already fine and the bits that aren’t worth spending money on.

3. You decide what to do about it

Do it yourself, do nothing, or hand it to us. No pressure either way, and no follow-up sales call you didn’t ask for.

Improve your visibility

  • Turn up for the searches your customers actually make
  • A quicker site on every device
  • More of the right enquiries, from people already looking

Or call 01202 237 273 and we’ll give you a rough answer in ten minutes.

Common questions

The things people ask before they commit – how long it takes, what it costs them in time, and whether any of it is guaranteed.

Anything else, ask. Especially the sceptical questions – SEO has earned those.

Ask an SEO question →

How long does SEO take?

Typically 3–6 months for meaningful results. Technical fixes such as speed and crawl errors can show sooner; local visibility and content take longer to build.

Can you guarantee we'll rank number one?

No, and neither can anyone else. Google’s results aren’t ours to control. What we can promise is that the technical work will be done properly and you’ll know exactly what changed.

Does our hosting affect our rankings?

Yes. Speed and uptime are both ranking factors, so a slow or unreliable host holds you back. If that’s the issue, we’ll tell you – see Web Hosting.

Do you write the content as well?

We’ll write and rework page copy where it affects search – titles, headings, service and location pages. For a full ongoing content programme we’ll be honest about where our limits are.

We're a small local business. Is SEO worth it for us?

Often more than it is for a big one. Local search is winnable in a way national search isn’t, and a Google Business Profile costs nothing to get right.

Do we have to move our website to you?

No. We’ll work on your site wherever it lives. If the hosting is genuinely holding it back we’ll say so, but that’s your call, not a condition.

What if the audit says we don't need you?

Then that’s what it says. We’d rather you remembered us as the people who told you the truth than the people who took the money.

Don't take our word for it

Every site we work on starts with a different challenge – one nobody could find, one that took an age to load, one that showed up in its home town and nowhere else in Dorset.

Here’s how a few of them turned out.
